"Our doubts are traitors, and make us lose the good we often might win, by fearing to attempt." Famously said by Sir William Shakespeare.
Self-doubt is a feeling of uncertainty about your decision. When you feel that the activity you are doing is right or wrong. Self-doubt will not allow you to achieve your goal as it will always hold you back from gripping new opportunities. Can a person recognize that is he or she having a self-doubt? A little doubt can be a big obstacle when it comes to your success. Some use this as motivation and it helps makes them more confident. You too can also overcome your self-doubt problem, just maintain some patience and use the tips below to help you on your way!
1. Recognize:
Once you recognize that you are having self doubt, know that you're not alone. Everyone at one time has had doubts or fears about something. Some people will sweat it out, while others may choose to smile through it all... But everyone has had their own doubts about something.
2. Stop Comparing:
Don't ever compare your life with another person. It will make you confused and you might find yourself thinking "I don't have a shot or I can't do it because... etc". The truth is someone will always look as if they are doing better. Remember, two individuals can never be the same. Don't doubt your ability by seeing others. You have no idea the amount of work it took to get a person where you see them today. Everyone has a story.
3. Stop caring about other's opinion
In your life, you will face so much of people who will doubt your abilities. Don't add to the fire by participating in these destructive conversations. Plant the seed in your mind that you can do what ever you set your mind too. Whether people understand your goals or not don't loose sight of whats important. Concentrate on your goal and make sure you achieve it.
4. Get into Conversations about it:
Talking to your friends and family will surely help you. They will remind you of your strengths and help motivate you. Talk with someone who has already achieved your goal. They can point you in the right direction and give you a boost in confidence.
5. Remind Yourself:
Throughout life we are constantly checking things off of a to-do list. Whether you know it or not you've probably achieved more than you're given yourself credit for. Remember to give yourself credit. You didn't make it this far by accident.
6. Set Short-term Goals:
It is ambitious to set your sights on what happens when you finally have you goal in hand. Everyone is naturally excited about crossing the finish line. In order to ensure that you make the journey without burning out like a shooting star, you should set short term goals or milestones to track your process to the finish line. Remember small progress is better than no progress.
7. Forgive Yourself:
Throughout your journey to achievement you're going to make some mistakes. Don't waste time beating yourself up on taking a wrong turn along the way. Dust yourself off and get pointed back in the right direction. Just because everything didn't happened how may have planned doesn't mean you are a failure. Keep your goals in sight and you'll soon find achievement.
